Falcons Place Fourth at Ripon Invite

RIPON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team competed at the Dick Hendricks Invitational, hosted by Ripon, on Saturday. The Falcons placed fourth with 87.5 points, Carroll won the team title with 108 points.
 
Junior Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) highlighted the meet with a victory in the 5,000 meters, clocking a personal-record time of 19:36.12 and winning by more than 30 seconds.
 
Freshman Sophia Wunderlich (Greenville, Wis.) and junior Emma Eilertson (Mukwonago, Wis.) both advanced to the 60-meter hurdles finals after placing second and fourth in prelims, respectively. Wunderlich finished runner-up in the finals with a personal-best 9.43, while Eilerston placed fourth in 9.93. Eilerston also claimed the high jump title, clearing 1.55 meters. Wunderlich added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.69 meters.
 
In the 800 meters, senior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) and junior Olivia Ebel (Mt. Clemens, Mich.) recorded season-best times to place second and third. Van Grivsen crossed in 2:20.77, followed by Ebel in 2:27.39.
 
Junior Mikayla Becker (Plantation, Fla.) earned a runner-up finish in the mile with a time of 5:48.12.
 
Sophomore Jacey Read (Carbondale, Wis.) competed in both the 200 meters and high jump, placing seventh in the 200 (27.20) and third in the high jump (1.45m).
 
In the pole vault, senior Kate Kotula (Wyomissing, Pa.) cleared 3.10 meters to place sixth and also posted a season-best 10.42 meters in the triple jump.
 
In the throws, junior Paige Schreiber (Dousman, Wis.) placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 11.26 meters, achieved on her opening attempt. Junior Bryanna Mursch (Grafton, Wis.) recorded the Falcons' top finish in the weight throw, placing ninth with a throw of 12.39 meters on her fifth attempt.
 
The Falcons will compete in their final regular-season indoor meet next Saturday at the Titan Challenge, hosted by UW–Oshkosh, before the conference championships in two weeks.
