Softball Secures Two Wins on Spring Break

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team continues to heat up under the Florida sun. The Falcons improved to 5-3 on the season with a pair of 7-1 victories on Monday morning over Susquehanna and Neumann.

The Concordia offense blew up for six runs in the first inning against Susquehanna.

Senior Rylie DuVal (Elgin, Ill.) continued her hot streak with a triple to left field to start the day that plated junior Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) all the way from first base.

The bases were quickly filled with Falcons after junior Isa Bruno (Chicago, Ill.) was hit by a pitch and junior Kaitlyn Way (Blaine, Minn.) was walked.

Senior Nora Statz (Helenville, Wis.) had an infield single that continued the carousel and scored DuVal.

Junior Emma Shellstrom (San Diego, Calif.) drew a walk to allow Bruno to strut across home plate.

Junior Jenna Lischka (Manitowoc, Wis.) blasted a sacrifice fly to score Way.

Senior Julia Moker (Richfield, Wis.) cleared the bases with a triple down the left-field line with a thunderous smack that scored Shellstrom and Statz.

The Falcons sent 10 batters to the plate in the first inning.

Rylie DuVal scored again in the second inning after she doubled down the left-field line. She was able to cross home plate on a wild pitch.

The Riverhawks scored their lone run of the game on a triple in the third inning.

The Concordia defense locked down Susquehanna for the rest of the morning.

Emma Shellstrom silenced Susquehanna in the first five innings with three strikeouts in her second victory of the season.

Freshman Faith Keiper (Tomball, Texas) kept the bats silenced with five strikeouts in the final two innings.

Rylie DuVal led game one with three hits, on a triple, double and a single and two runs.

Concordia jumped out to another early lead at Legends Way with three runs in the first inning.

Jenna Shadoski stole second and third base and had the Neumann defense so flustered they just threw the ball away to let her score.

A wild pitch plated sophomore Anya Weiler (Hudson, Wis.) to add onto the lead and a shot to first base for Nora Statz scored senior Maggie Plahmer (Slinger, Wis.).

The Falcons kept the pressure on in the second inning, where they added four more runs.

Julia Moker smacked a single through the right side of the infield and Jenna Lischka scored from second base.

A Jenna Shadoski single to right field scored Moker on the next play.

Anya Weiler scored Jenna Shadoski on a single through the left side and then caused ciaos on the base path to allow Rylie DuVal to sneak across home plate.

The Knights scored a run in the bottom half of the second inning, but that all they built.

Junior Kylie Strupp (Slinger, Wis.) snagged her second win of the year with two strikeouts.

Anya Weiler made her pitching debut at Concordia on Monday and had two strikeouts over the final two innings. She also led the Falcons with three hits in game two.

The Birds are back in action again on Tuesday against Alvernia.
