Sainz de Rozas Named North Region Female Track Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field  All-Region Honorees, with Ainara Sainz de Rozas and Emma Ahrens of the Concordia Wisconsin women's track & field team earning recognition. Additionally, Sainz de Rozas was regonized as the North Region Female Track Athlete of the Year.
 
The USTFCCCA awards All-Region honors to the top eight individuals in each event from each region, along with members of the region's top-eight relay teams.
 
Ahrens, a junior from Stephens City, Virginia, earned All-Region honors in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. During the 2026 season, she recorded personal-best performances in each event, running 16:57.82 in the 5,000 meters and 35:15.59 in the 10,000 meters.
 
Sainz de Rozas, a senior from Madrid, Spain, earned All-Region honors in the 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000 meters. In addition to being named the North Region Female Track Athlete of the Year, she put together a historic outdoor season, highlighted by a national title in the 5,000 meters and a runner-up finish in the 10,000 meters at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Sainz de Rozas also rewrote the program record book, breaking school records in all three events with times of 4:27.56 in the 1,500 meters, 16:08.15 in the 5,000 meters, and 33:39.31 in the 10,000 meters. Remarkably, she lowered each of those records multiple times throughout the season.
