MEQUON, Wis. – It was a strong start to the season for the Concordia Wisconsin men's tennis team. The Falcons cruised to a 7-0 victory over Ripon to open the 2026-27 season on Tuesday evening.
Sophomore Michael Rios (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Gustavo Funo (Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil) started the day with a win by retirement at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Renan Botelho (Itatiba, Brazil) and sophomore Murilo Zeni (Curitiba, Brazil) ran over Ripon at No. 1 doubles, 6-3.
Senior Kristopher Greenhaw (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and senior Ben Hilpert (Pasadena, Md.) closed the door on doubles with a 6-3 victory on court three.
Murilo Zeni earned the second point with a forfeit victory at No. 1 singles.
Renan Botelho beat Zachary Warde at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
At No. 3 singles, Gustavo Funo fried Kyle Flook, 6-2, 6-1.
Michael Rios ran over Emerson Hendricks at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Ben Hilpert defeated Ryan Richter at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-3.
Kristopher Greenhaw grounded Robert Livermore to end the match at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-2.
The Falcons close the fall season next weekend at ITA Regionals in Minnesota.
