Falcons defeat Alverno to improve to 1-1

Concordia salvaged a split in their season opening road weekend series by edging pesky Alverno 70- 64 Saturday afternoon in Lake Forest. CUW built a 34- 27 lead at the half but could not shake the Inferno despite a 23 point and 11 rebound performance from senior forward Pearl Wallace.

Perfect 10-10 shooting from the line was a key for Stacey Brunner's squad but Asia Beckum's 3 pointer with 1:03 remaining was the dagger after Alverno had cut the Falcon lead to 65-61.

Beckum (13) and Tiffany Hendrickson (12) joined Wallace in double figures. Lisa Sorgi led the Inferno with 18.
