Concordia was never in the game against talented Carthage(3-1),
falling behind 5-0 in the opening seconds and trailing by 15 at the
10 minute mark as the taller hosts passed the ball effectively over
the top against CUW pressure.
Shawn Cassidy's troops (3-2) found themselves in arrears 40-23
at the break before eventually dropping an 85- 60 decision in round
one of the Carroll Classic.
Kyle Barth was the lone Falcon to reach double figures (14)
while Carthage had four players with at least that many, and was
paced offensively by Max Carey and Steve Djurickovic with 19
each.
Almost half of the CUW shots came from the 3 point line but 33%
marksmanship from outside was not nearly enough. Reserve Krei Meier
scored 8 points for CUW in an impressive 4 minute stint off the
bench.
Carthage was an effective 20-27 from the FT line while Concordia
got just 14 free throw opportunities and hit on only half of
those.
