Lawrence is expected to finish near the top of the 2009-10
league standings and the visitors showed why as they handed CUW a
disappointing 8-1 defeat Friday evening at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
Lawrence assumed control by taking a 3-0 lead in the first period
with two of those scores coming in a BAD final minute.
The Falcons played an excellent second session, outshooting the
Vikings and scoring the only goal of the period to cut the deficit
to 3-1.
That only served to rile Lawrence, however, as the Appleton
forces added five goals in the final frame to turn the contest into
a rout. The same teams meet Saturday night in Appleton.
"The score does not show it, but we are getting better," said
coach Tony Hrkac. "The second period was our best to date and two
of their goals came off the skates of our defenders."
