Concordia (4-3) was just about flawless for the first ten
minutes, and rode that textbook start to an 80- 70 win over (3-1)
Rockford tonight in the Buuck Fieldhouse. CUW led 37- 13 fourteen
minutes into the first half and still held a 44-31 margin at the
break.
The Regents made several second half runs, pulling within six
with less than four minutes to play, but Shawn Cassidy's team was
poised under the pressure and got a number of inside scores to put
the game away.
Skip Newton- Kemp had his best performance of the young season
with 30 points on 13 -17 shooting and 3 of 4 from the line. Kyle
Barth took it to the athletic Rockford defenders with a 22 point
effort that included 8 of 14 shooting.
Overall the hosts fired away at a 51% clip and forced the
rattled Regents into 22 turnovers- most of those in the first
half. Danny Armelin (22) and Robert Malone (20) led Rockford
scoring.
