Falcon head coach Stacey Brunner wanted her team to play a non
conference schedule that would toughen them up for January and
February NAC play.
Contests against Nationally Ranked opponents (Tufts and UW-Stevens
Point) in Florida certainly provided both the physical and mental
challenge she was looking for.
Against a tall and athletic Tufts squad on Wednesday, the
Falcons trailed by as many as 24 points and were down 42-22 at the
break.
No Falcon managed to hit double figures and CUW shot a paltry
32% from the field. Tufts had three players with 15 or more points
and shot 54% over the initial 20 minutes. "Z" (Brittany Zietlow)
had a good two days for us but nobody else was consistent. We
played better against Tufts in the second half but they are very
good."
"This has been a difficult stretch (four consecutive non-conference
losses) and we will see if the learning kicks in," offered
Brunner.
