Host Concordia (5-5-2) got four goals in the second period and
three more in the third to overcome a 2-0 deficit and defeat
Hamline 7-4 Sunday afternoon at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
This was a record-tying performance in a number of ways for the
Falcons. Besides defeating Hamline for the first time in six
tries, CUW got 4 goals in a period (tying a school record) and 7
goals in a game (tying another record).
Jaime Athens, Alex Barton, Sam Meuwissen, and Alyssa Isaackson
scored in succession over a 17 minute second period stretch as
Concordia took control.
Tracy Tyrakowski, Meuwissen, and Sarah Luberda added third
period tallies that allowed the Falcons to pull away. Jim Ingman's
team outshot the visitors 53-20.
"We improved from Saturday to Sunday", appraised Ingman. "Today
we showed our team speed. Our forwards did a great job of
forechecking and creating offensive opportunities. It's a good jump
start for the stretch of games in January."
