CUW rallied impressively in the game's final seven minutes,
turning an 11 point deficit into a thrilling 65-59 win over
visiting Benedictine this afternoon.
The first half was well played and essentially even throughout
with Concordia clinging to a 32-31 lead at the break.
The upstart Eagles appeared to take control after the break,
shutting down CUW without a field goal for over five minutes while
building a 52-41 lead.
From that point on it was Falcon defensive intensity causing 8
BU turnovers and several badly forced shots, plus a suddenly
effective offense that put up 24 markers over those final seven
minutes.
Edward Newton-Kemp led Concordia with 18 points while Mitchell
Schneider and Cory Stark added 16 each. Each scored 6 points
during the impressive CUW stretch drive.
"We responded against adversity down the stretch after that ugly
period early in the second half where emotions appeared to take
over," said Coach Shawn Cassidy.
