The game was definitely about defense, but Wisconsin Lutheran
had just enough offense to defeat host CUW 52-49 in the NAC
"crossover" game this afternoon.
Stacey Brunner's Falcons shot a woeful 22% in the first half,
falling behind 28-18 at the break as WLC contested every shot.
A late run got the hosts within two points on two different
occasions in the closing minutes but WLC, although very shaky with
the ball, closed the door on Concordia with more stellar
defending.
Post players Ashleigh Galligan and Pearl Wallace combined for 20
Concordia points and the same number of rebounds, but 29% game-long
shooting proved costly.
The #1 seeded Falcons host #8 MSOE on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the
Buuck Fieldhouse. Concordia will continue to host as long as they
keep winning by virtue of the top seed designation.
"We need to get better in a hurry," said Coach Brunner. "This
week will be a matter of which teams NEED to keep playing."
Lutheran got a 15 point production from post player Whitney
Miller and a dozen rebounds from Rachel Johnson.
