Benedictine improved to 15-11 on the season and will play in
tomorrow night's NAC Tournament Championship game at Lakeland after
upsetting Concordia 53-50 in a Buuck Fieldhouse cliffhanger.
The contest was tight all the way with CUW trailing 51-50 as
senior Falcon guard Meghan Matthies drove the baseline with :03
remaining in the contest. Her potential game-winner was rejected,
however, and CUW was forced to foul on the rebound. A pair of free
throws with just fractions of a second left accounted for the final
margin.
Tiffany Hendrickson led the Falcons with 18 points including a
trio of 3 point successes. Two of her long range bombs helped
bring CUW back from their largest deficit (37-29) with ten minutes
remaining.
Pearl Wallace ended her career with a 15 point and 11 rebound
effort. She is ranked sixth in all-time career rebounding for the
Falcon program.
Stacey Brunner's team, which finished 17-10 overall and won the
NAC North for a 4th consecutive year, shot just 36%.
Seniors Wallace and Matthies contributed to an outstanding 83-27
overall record during their four Falcon seasons- including two
NCAA appearances.
