Concordia got the game's first goal from Sara Cole on a power play midway through the first period, but that tally did not hold up as host Adrian (14-10-2) came back to defeat the Falcons 2-1 in the first game of a two game 'total goals' playoff.

This contest was evenly played throughout but the hosts were able to sneak in second period tallies by Jessica Grubbs and Andrea Soloko and then hang on.

Concordia fired 16 shots on goal in the final frame but could not manage the tying score.

CUW (9-14-3) will have to come back today and outscore Adrian by two goals in order to move on to the second round of the tournament.
