Milwaukee
After one period, it looked like playing a Friday afternoon home
game at the Bradley Center was a BAD idea for CUW. The Falcons
trailed MSOE 2-0 and had been outshot 20-3.
When the Raiders added a third tally four minutes into period
number two, some fans may have been looking forward to the Admirals
game that was to follow.
Tony Hrkac's skaters, on the other hand, were looking forward to
getting back into the game. Jonathon Smith lit the CUW lamp first
on a power play to make it 3-1 after two periods.
Smith enjoyed that experience enough to do it again three minutes
into the third period...and suddenly it was GAME ON!
CUW's Graylyn Douglas tied the score three minutes later and
Concordia fans were thinking "Miracle on Ice".
Talented MSOE got a Ben Plocar goal at 8:01 of the third to take
back the lead but Greg Douglas duplicated his brother's feat with a
score only two minutes before the regulation horn sounded to make
it 4-4.
Concordia dominated the overtime with one Falcon shot pinging off
the top post, but the Falcons were forced to settle for their
fourth tie of the season.
