Playing from behind the entire game, CUW did what champions do-
stay with the program and win it at the end.
The Falcons trailed Benedictine 60-50 with 4:07 remaining before
a 3 pointer by ice-veined Tiffany Henrickson cut the Eagle lead to
seven.
Benedictine's Tracey Walsh hit one of two free throws at 3:46
before CUW's Camille Parsons hit a pair of charity tosses to make
it a six point game.
Hendrickson's ensuing trey at 2:42 made it 61-58 and brought the
CUW faithful to life. Hendrickson made it 61-59 by hitting one of
two free throws when she was fouled after the 3 point success to
cut the margin to two and Pearl Wallace tied it up with a post move
deuce at 1:54.
Concordia's Meghan Matthies drove for a lead hoop with 1:00 left
and Benedictine got only a single free throw from Lidia Arias with
:57 remaining. CUW's defense was airtight down the stretch and a
pair of free throws by Brittany Zietlow in the final second closed
out the scoring.
Hendrickson led the way with a 20 point effort that included 5
of 8 from beyond the arc. Seniors Matthies and Wallace celebrated
their SENIOR DAY with 13 point performances. Freshman Parsons
added 9 important points off the bench.
Stacey Brunner's team upped their overall mark to 14-7. The
Falcons are 13-1 at the top of the NAC. Much-improved Benedictine
fell to 7-6 in the league and 9-9 overall.
