Milwaukee
Fifth seeded Concordia got off to a great start, taking a 3-0 in
their half of the first, but #4 Lakeland came back with four runs
in their half of the same inning and never looked back again as the
Muskies recorded an 11-5 victory in round one of the NAC
Tournament.
Hits by Stephanie Brunette, Jenna DiMaggio, Emily Bennin, and Sarah
Cochran factored into the big CUW first, but Lakeland got
it all back and more when Leah Sheahan blasted a 3 run homer to cap
their even bigger first inning.
Falcon starter Danielle Burke was lifted during a similar 4 run
second inning uprising for Lakeland.
Amy Blahnik homered during that rally but the final two runs of the
frame were the result of an infield error.
Steve Crook's team got a solo home run by Bennin in the 7th but
that merely cut the deficit to the 11-5 final tally.
Stephanie Brunette, named to the NAC all conference team earlier in
the day, had 3 hits for the Falcons including a pair of
doubles.
The Falcons are now scheduled to
play that loser's bracket game on Saturday morning at 9am against
Marian..
