Concordia rode a torrid first half to a 96-84 win over a
hard-working Rockford squad this evening in the Buuck
Fieldhouse.
CUW (11-0 in the NAC) broke out in front 54-41 by intermission
but had to quell a late Regents uprising that cut the deficit to 4
points with less than eight minutes remaining.
Shawn Cassidy's juggernaut won their 15th game of the season
overall; a tally they needed to reach in order for Concordia to get
to the school's 1000th win in a 95 year basketball history.
That historic event and the folks most responsible will be
celebrated in gala fashion during the Saturday, February 12th
doubleheader against Maranatha.
Cory Stark, one of five Concordia players in double figures, led
the home forces with 21. Mitchell Schneider (16), Skip Newton-Kemp
(13), and Nick and Luke Doedens (12 each) all helped CUW shoot 49%
from the field.
Robert Malone had a game-high 23 for Rockford (7-10).
