Mequon, Wis.- Senior Bryan Samuel ( Brookfield,
Wis.) headed in a perfect direct kick from teammate Jason Rogers
(Glendale, Wis.) to give Concordia-Wisconsin a hard-earned 3-2 win
over visiting Edgewood College Wednesday evening.
Samuel's game winner came at 71:40 and the Falcons held on to
improve to 12-4-1 on the season while remaining undefeated (8-0-1)
in conference play.
The Eagles struck first when Paul Domann beat the CUW defense at
11:38 but Concordia tied the match just two minutes later. Kyle
Sytsma (Antioch, Ill.) blasted a terrifc left-footed shot that
found the corner of the goal from 15 yards out.
Tom Saleska's team went ahead on Sytsma's second score at 39:36
as an attempt bounded off a defender and then off the goalie's
hands before crossing the line to make it 2-1 Falcons.
The soaked and wind-blown home crowd cheers had barely quieted,
however, before Edgewood was back to even when Kelmend Isaj found
himself open in front of the goal just before halftime and pounded
home the equalizer.
Concordia controlled play for most of the second half, holding
an 8-1 shot advantage, before the spectacular Rogers to Samuel
finale dropped Edgewood to 4-4-1 in the NAC and 6-6-3 overall.
