CEDARBURG, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin
men's hockey team fell to another highly-ranked opponent on Friday
night, losing 7-3 to 14th-ranked MSOE at the Ozaukee Ice
Center.
The 2nd period proved
to be the difference, as MSOE (1-0, 1-0 MCHA) tallied four goals
and opened up a 5-1 lead on the Falcons with 20 minutes to
play.
Despite only putting
two shots on goal in the first period, the Falcons (0-3, 0-1 MCHA)
made the most of their chances as freshman Tanner Tryggestad
(Amery, Wis.) cleaned up a rebound from close range, tying the game
at one just before the first intermission.
The Raiders then broke
the game open in the second period, during a frame in which the two
teams combined to draw a total of 12 penalties.
After MSOE opened the
third period with two more goals to stretch their lead to 7-1, the
Falcons scored twice in the final four minutes of play.
Freshman Morgan Sanchez
(Corona, Calif.) blasted a one-timer over the shoulder of MSOE
goalie Connor Toomey, moments before junior Greg Douglas (Plano,
Texas) found the back of the net with just over two minutes to
go.
CUW travels to
Milwaukee on Saturday to face MSOE for the second time in as many
nights. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
