MEQUON,
Wis. - Playing in their first game back after exactly five
weeks away from live competition, the Concordia University
Wisconsin men's hockey team will return to the rink for two games
against Finlandia University, starting on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
For any fans unable to
make it to Friday's game, live
video/play-by-play and live
stats will be provided.
The Falcons' last game
was over a month ago on December 9, when they hosted Gustavus
Adolphus College in what was the grand opening of the new sheet of
ice at the OIC.
This weekend will also
serve as a special occasion at the home of the Falcons, as one of
the most historic items in all of sports, the Stanley Cup, will be
in the building
for public viewing on Saturday.
On the ice, CUW
(1-10-2, 1-6-1 NCHA) will hope to start the season's second half on
a high note after some solid performances didn't turn into positive
results.
The sophomore duo of
Russell Johnson (Monticello, Minn.) and Shay Klitzke (Annandale,
Minn.) has led the team offensively thus far, as Johnson leads the
Falcons in goals with nine, while Klitzke holds the team-lead in
assists with seven.
Freshman goaltender
Josh Lehr (Appleton, Wis.) has also had a nice start to his first
season in a CUW uniform, posting a .899 save percentage against
some top competition.
Finlandia (1-11-0,
1-7-0 NCHA) will also be playing in their first games back after a
five-week spell away from game action, and will be looking to get
off to a fast start after a disappointing first half.
The Lions are led
sophomore forward Collin Saint-Onge, who has scored six goals to go
with six assists so far this season.
Friday's game will
begin at 7 p.m., before Saturday's action starts at 2 p.m.
