ADRIAN,
Mich. - In the first game of their final road trip of the
season, the Concordia University Wisconsin men's hockey team
suffered a lopsided defeat at the hands of 9th-ranked Adrian
College, losing 9-2 on Friday night inside the Arrington Ice
Arena.
CUW (2-17-3, 2-13-2
MCHA) got goals from sophomore Bradley Lukasz (East Grand Forks,
Minn.) and freshman Cole Weiser (Beloit, Wis.), as well as 22 saves
from senior goalie Everett Devlin (Terry, Mont.), but it wasn't
enough to keep up with the MCHA's top team.
The Bulldogs (16-5-1,
14-2-1 MCHA) scored five goals in the first period, one in the
second, and three more in the third to continue their dominance in
Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association play.
After Adrian grabbed an
early 1-0 lead, Lukasz tied the score at 1-1 off an assist from
sophomore Dan Shilts (New Richmond, Wis.).
Later in the second
period, with the Bulldogs leading 6-1, Weiser scored with the help
of a Dustin Jonasson (West Fargo, N.D.) assist.
But it was all Adrian
after that, as the Bulldogs won their third straight game in MCHA
competition.
The two teams will meet
again on Saturday afternoon, with the action set to begin at 2
p.m.
