MEQUON, Wis. - After three straight non-conference matchups, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's lacrosse team returned to Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference action on Tuesday night, but didn't get the result they were looking for.

The Falcons suffered a lopsided 17-1 defeat at the hands of Carthage College that stretched the visitor's current winning streak to five games.

The Lady Reds scored early and often, and held an 11-1 advantage at halftime before netting six more goals in the second half.

CUW (2-9, 1-2 MWLC) got their lone goal from senior Marie Melton (Prior Lake, Minn.), who scored unassisted midway through the first half.

Freshman goalie Becca David made four saves for the Falcons, but was under constant pressure from a Carthage attack that outshot CUW 34-15.

Carthage (8-3, 3-0 MWLC) got five goals and an assist from Sydney Whitaker, along with three goals each from Anna Schweiss and Hannah Sopeth.

Next up for the Falcons is a two-game road trip in Michigan this weekend, as CUW visits Albion College on Saturday before meeting Adrian College on Sunday.
