Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Reiter scores 7 goals, but Women's Lacrosse falls to Mount St. Joseph

MEQUON, Wis. – Freshman Sammi Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.) put on another impressive display in her first season in a Falcon uniform, but the Concordia University Wisconsin women's lacrosse team suffered a 17-11 defeat at the hands of College of Mount St. Joseph on a dreary Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field.

Reiter scored seven goals to tie the CUW school record for goals in a game, a feat she had accomplished once already this season, taking her season goals total to 49, which ranks first in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference.

CUW (3-11, 2-4 MWLC) was unable to top Mount St. Joseph (5-8, 3-3 MWLC), however, as the visitors pulled away in the second half after the Falcons had mounted a comeback attempt just before halftime.

The Lions got off to a fast start, building a 7-2 lead midway through the first half behind three goals from Chrissy O'Hara.

The Falcons would respond later in the first period, scoring four times in the final ten minutes of the opening half to cut the deficit to 8-6 at the half.

Mount St. Joseph regained control in the second half, however, scoring seven times in a span of 20 minutes to take a commanding 16-8 lead with only five minutes remaining in regulation.

CUW did net a few consolation goals in the final stages of the game, but it wasn't enough.

Senior Marie Melton (Prior Lake, Minn.) added two goals for the Falcons, while junior Erin Lau (Cary, Ill.) and freshman Hannah Redden (Libertyville, Ill.) each scored once.

MSJ's Amanda Holmes matched Reiter with seven goals of her own to lead the Lions, while Heather Scholle added four.

The Falcons will close out their regular season on Sunday, when they host Trine University at 1 p.m. at Fitting Field.
