Jehlicka records two triple-doubles, Volleyball sets program wins record

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Ashley Jehlicka recorded two triple-doubles to lead Concordia University Wisconsin to a 3-1 record at the Barker Chevrolet Classic, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. With the trio of wins, the Falcons ended the regular season with a program record 24 victories.

On Friday, the Falcons swept MacMurray College 3-0 (25-22,25-21,25-14) before defeating North Park University 3-1 (5-15,24-26,25-9,25-18). Early Saturday, CUW fell 3-1 (26-24,23-25,25-20,25-17) to Illinois Wesleyan University before earning a 3-1 (25-19,25-17,25-27,25-16) victory over Illinois College.

Freshman Ashley Jehlicka (Salem, Wis.) earned All-Barker Classic honors for her efforts. She finished with 35 kills, 86 assists, 62 digs, 11 block assists and five service aces.

Freshman Kaily Moegenburg (Plymouth, Wis.) led the Falcons during the four matches with 38 kills, while freshman Lauren Nevinski (New Berlin, Wis.) had 35 kills and a team-best .321 attack percentage. Senior Hannah Griffiths (Antigo, Wis.) recorded 26 kills, to go along with 54 digs.

Sophomore Karina Klotz (Hubertus, Wis.) assisted on 67 kills and was one of three Falcons with five service aces. The Falcons served 25 aces in the four matches compared to the opponents 12 service aces.

Defensively, senior Erin Howard (Labadie, Mo.) dug 50 attack attempts and Klotz recorded 46 digs. Junior Kelsa Rubeck (Eau Claire, Wis.) finished with 40 digs. Nevinski led the front line defensive efforts with 14 block assists and two block solo. Senior Britta Duchow (Potter, Wis.) recorded nine total blocks (six solo).

In all, CUW hit .212 for the tournament and finished with 322 digs, compared to the opposition's .196 hitting percentage and 141 digs.

CUW returns to the court as the No. 2 seed on Thursday for the NACC Tournament semifinals with a 7 p.m. home match against either No. 6-seeded Marian University or No. 3-seeded Edgewood College.
