Women's Basketball upsets No. 17 New England

BAYAMON, Puerto Rico – Marciarae' Harmon grabbed a missed shot and banked in a six-footer off the backboard to give Concordia University Wisconsin an upsetting 48-45 non-conference victory over No. 17 New England.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons fought off a nationally-ranked Nor'Easters team by scrambling in the final seconds. Sophomore Audrey Scharmer grabbed a loose ball and shot a fadeaway from the baseline with second left on the shot clock. The shot was off the mark, but rebounded by Harmon who banked in a six-footer to give CUW a 3-point lead with roughly 12 seconds to play.
- New England then went the length of the court and got off a deep 3-pointer that caromed off the rim just before the buzzer sounded.
- Sophomore Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) led all players 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She also had three assists, two blocks and a steal.
- Junior Samantha Blissett (Springfield, Ill.) scored 13 points; while senior Madelyn Landgraf (Elkhart Lake, Wis.) had seven points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- CUW's victory over a ranked team was the first in program history, dating back to know records in 2002-03.
- The Falcons held the Nor'Easters to 32.0 (16-of-50) shooting and 16.7 percent (2-of-12) from downtown. Meanwhile, CUW shot 38.1 percent (16-of-42).

THE OPPOSITION
- Alicia Brown paced the Nor'Easters with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Lauren Hayden had 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
- Meghan Bribbin and Alanna Vose each had six points.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons return to action on Wednesday for a 6 pm non-conference game at UW-Platteville.
