Men's Basketball suffers buzzer-beating loss at Wisconsin Lutheran

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Jim Marose nailed a jumper at the buzzer to give Wisconsin Lutheran College a thrilling 84-82 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday evening. The Falcons drained 11 3-pointers in the game, but missed an important long ball attempt with 12 seconds to go with the game tied.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior DeShawn Robinson (Oak Creek, Wis.) tied the game at 84-84 with a layup as the clock had one minute and three seconds remaining. CUW then forced a turnover on the ensuing WLC possession, which was followed by a timeout. The Falcons had their chance to drain a triple, but the ball was off the mark and Marose made a jumper as the horn sounded.
- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup was tightly contested, as there were 14 scoring ties and 13 lead changes. The Falcons led for 21:28, while the Warriors were in front for 11:22 in the game. CUW led by as many as eight points in the second half and WLC was in front by six with four minutes to play.
- Statistics were fairly identical across the box score, however, the Falcons had an edge in 3-point makes. They made 11 throughout the game, including eight in the first half, but went cold over the final 20 minutes making just 3-of-14.
- Junior Eric Kittel led CUW with 15 points, including four 3-pointers, to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Senior Brad Prinsen (Oostburg, Wis.) scored 13 points and senior Trevor Krizenesky (Brillion, Wis.) had 12 points, including three long balls, off the bench. Senior Malcolm Bowers (Germantown, Wis.) chipped in 10 points and stole two passes.
- Senior Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) scored 14 points to surpass the 1,000 point plateau in his career. He also grabbed four rebounds and assisted on four field goals.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kahlfeldt became the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 career points.
- The Falcons bench outscored the Warriors reserves 26-17.
- WLC turned 14 offensive rebounds into 18 second chance points.
- CUW struggled at the free throw line making 11-of-20 attempts (55 percent).

THE OPPOSITION
- Collin Kennedy led all players with 23 points on 10-of-23 shooting, while Marose ended with a double-double (22 points and 12 rebounds).
- Chase Nowak added 17 points, including three 3-poitners, and Jake Jarnigo tallied 12 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
