Kittel nets 26, Falcons narrowly escape Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin escaped with a narrow 74-70 victory at Edgewood College Wednesday night in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With just under two minutes remaining and CUW leading by one, the Falcons pulled three consecutive offensive rebounds and on the fourth shot attempt sophomore guard Josh Erickson (Manitowoc, Wis.) drained his fourth 3-pointer of the night to give the Falcons a four point lead with 1:40 remaining in the game.
- On the following possession the Falcons would force an Edgewood turnover and forcing the Eagles to foul. Senior guard Malcolm Bowers (Germantown, Wis.) would make both his free throws giving CUW their largest lead of the game. However, Edgewood would not go away.
- The Eagles would continue to fight back and with a couple of Falcon missed free throws, Edgewood would make a 20 foot jumper to cut the CUW lead to three with only five seconds remaining.
- Senior guard Trevor Krizenesky (Brillion, Wis.) would then go on to make 1-of-2 free throws to seal the victory for the Falcons.
- The Falcons defense forced 18 turnovers and came away with 24 points off turnovers on the night compared to the Eagles 12 points off turnovers. CUW's defense also held Edgewood to 20.7 percent (6-of-29) shooting from 3-point range on the night.
- Junior guard Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) led all scorers with 26 points and went 10-of-13 from the charity stripe. Erickson and senior forward James Mitchell (St. Louis, Mo.) each reached double figures scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- CUW has now won eight straight NACC games.
- Kittel is now the third Falcon to score 20+ points in back-to-back games this season.

THE OPPOSITION
- Edgewood was led by Adam Freitag who scored a team-high 13 points.
- Emil Radisevic added 12 points for the Eagles and pulled in a game-high 15 rebounds

- The Falcons conclude the regular season schedule on Saturday as they take on Concordia Chicago for Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 2 pm.
