Falcons victorious on Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin excited the crowd with an overwhelming 24-1 victory over Concordia Chicago at Fitting Field on Saturday. The Falcons remain undefeated in Midwest Lacrosse Conference action, while honoring their 10 seniors and thanking the parents prior to the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons overwhelmed the short-handed Cougars throughout the Senior Day victory, scoring just five seconds into the game and leading 6-0 after the first quarter and 15-0 at halftime.
- CUW had 14 players score in the game, with senior Marino Best (Nanaimo, British Columbia) leading the way with four scores to go along with an assist. Seniors Mackennon Falvey (Mukwonago, Wis.) and Matt Garvey (Winnipeg, Manitoba) each added hat tricks.
- The Falcons set a program record with 78 shots in the win, including 45 on goal (also a program record). They ended with a 46-16 lead in ground balls, won 17-of-28 faceoffs and cleared 27-of-28 attempts.
- CUW also forced 25 turnovers, of which 17 were caused. Senior Mark Wilson (Calgary, Alberta) led all players with a career-high-tying five caused turnovers and became the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers (75).
- Junior Kellen Asmundson (Inver Grove, Minn.) led all players with a career-best three assists, while senior Danny Bundra (Lake Zurich, Ill.) and freshman Eric Carrolan (Pleasanton, Calif.) each assisted on a pair of scores.
- Senior Zachary Doll (Kirkwood, Mo.), Bundra and freshman Bennett Pallex (Pulaski, Wis.) each had a game-high six ground balls.
- Bundra won 10-of-16 faceoffs and freshman Jack Melby (Eagan, Minn.) won 7-of-12 attempts in the faceoff circle.
- Freshman Garrett Wohlford (Rochester, Minn.) made a save during the first half to earn the win in goal, while freshman Max Schramm (Edwards, Colo.) and junior Matthew Erickson (Antioch, Ill.) each made four saves in playing a quarter each.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- CUW's 24 goals were tied for the fourth most in a game in program history, while its 46 ground balls were tied for the 10th most.
- Wilson's five caused turnovers were tied for the sixth most in a game in program history.
- Freshman Landen Barten (Omaha, Neb.), sophomore Collin Kapinos (Palatine, Ill.), Melby and Asmundson each scored the first goal of their careers.
- Falvey entered the game without a goal in his career before recording the hat trick.
- Sophomore Paul Fisher (Champlin, Minn.) caused a career-high-tying three turnovers.
- Senior Patrick Leen (Park Ridge, Ill.) tied a career-high with two goals.
- Sophomore Nicholas Nayersina (Grayslake, Ill.) finished with a career-best three points, which included a pair of goals.
- Pallex's six ground balls were a career-best, along with his three caused turnovers.
- Schramm's four saves was a career-best in goal.

THE OPPOSITION
- Cal Crawford scored the Cougars only goal, while also recording four ground balls, two caused turnovers and three faceoff wins.
- Adam Ortiz won eight faceoffs and picked up a team-best five ground balls.
- Noah Bachofen made 21 saves in goal during a complete game losing effort.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons host Aurora in a week on Saturday, April 30 at 1 pm. If the Spartans are victories on Sunday it will setup a matchup for the MLC regular season title at Fitting Field.
