CUW notches first victory of the season

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin came out of Friday's non-conference matchup against Carroll winning to the tune of 7-2. CUW has now won the last three times these two teams have faced off.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons gave up just two points during Friday's win against the Pioneers. Concordia Wisconsin controlled both matches by winning 2-of-3 double matches and 5-of-6 singles matches.
- Junior Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.) went three sets with Grace Krueger at No. 1 singles. She won the first set 6-3, but Krueger bounced back with a 6-3 second set win. The match went into a third set were Solberg edged out Krueger 11-9 notching the first CUW singles victory.
- Sophomore Emma Sievers (Slinger, Wis.) and Senior Elizabeth Carroll (Hartford, Wis.) had strong performances in their singles matches winning 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively. Senior Sabine Jacobsen (Palatine, Ill.) finished the day strong as well, coming away with a victory of 6-3 and 6-4.
- Junior Bailey Kelly (Racine, Wis.) also had a good match by losing her first set 2-6, but showed that she was resilient by winning 6-4 in the second set and coming away with a 10-5 victory in the deciding third set.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons have now won the last three matches in a row against Carroll. The two teams have now faced off 11 times and the series is 7-4 in favor of Carroll.
- CUW is now 21-8 at home over the last three seasons making it a very hard place to play for visiting teams. Concordia Wisconsin is currently 8-2 in their last 10 home games dating back to last season. 

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons will look to defend their home court again this upcoming Wednesday with a NACC matchup against Lakeland starting at 4 pm.
