Women's Tennis competes in Gustie Fall Invitational and ITA Regional

ST. PETER, Minn. – Concordia Wisconsin competed in the Gustie Fall Invitational and ITA Midwest Regional tournaments on Friday and Saturday at Swanson Tennis Center. The bracket featured hundreds of competitors throughout the region.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons performed well in the Gustie Fall Invitational, as freshman Megan Sosnosky (Two Rivers, Wis.) defeated Kally Peterson 8-1 in singles competition along with sophomore Emma Sievers (Slinger, Wis.) who won her first match against Ashley Fredrickson from St. Mary's 8-4. CUW also had senior Sabine Jacobsen (Palatine, Ill.) win her first singles match against Ellie Hemker to the tune of 8-5.
 - Doubles competition was a little more kind to the Falcons, as the duo of Sievers and Sosnosky won both of their matches 8-5 and 8-0, respectively. The pair later went on to face Gracie LeBrun and Jessica Gross from Northwestern Minnesota and lost 8-0.
- The round of 128 in the ITA Midwest Regional saw a lot of Falcon success, as juniors Bailey Kelly (Racine, Wis.) and Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.), along with senior Elizabeth Carroll (Hartford, Wis.) all advanced into the round of 64. Concordia Wisconsin only saw one competitor advance into the round of 32, as Solberg defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1.
- Doubles competition only saw one pair advance out of the opening round, with Solberg and Kelly defeating a duo from Grinnell with a final result of 8-2. Solberg and Kelly later were defeated in doubles play in the round of 32 by St. Norbert College's pairing of Jordyn Lawatsch and Lauren Paulson.          

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons return to the courts on Saturday, September 30 with a NACC doubleheader against Aurora at 10:00 am and Dominican at 2:00 pm.
