Guns has career game, Falcons blow past Inferno

MEQUON, Wis. -- Taylor Guns scored a career-high 16 points and Concordia Wisconsin went on a 13-0 scoring run in the opening quarter to take control and cruise to an 82-50 victory over Alverno on Tuesday night inside the R. John Buuck Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the scoreboard read 4-4, the Falcons compiled a 13-0 scoring run over a two-minute and 29-second span to pull away and never look back. During the scoring spree, they drained three 3-pointers, including two from senior Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.).
- Concordia Wisconsin shot 57.9 percent in the opening quarter and a season-high 48.6 percent in the game (35-of-72). They also made seven 3-pointers in the contest.
- Sophomore Taylor Guns (Greenleaf, Wis.) was outstanding during a career effort, scoring 16 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds in just 14 minutes and nine seconds of action. She scored 10 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter.
- The Falcons ended with a 46-32 edge in rebounding, scored 21 points off 16 Inferno turnovers, tallied a season-best 54 points in the paint and had a 39-2 advantage in bench production.
- Sophomore Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.) had 12 points, while Chambers and senior Kaitlyn Foster (Janesville, Wis.) each scored 10. Freshman Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.) tallied eight points and six rebounds. Freshmen Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) and Lindsay Glaeser (Valders, Wis.) ended with six and five points, respectively.
- Alverno was led by Keeshya Bellows who had 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
