MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team is cruising through competition right now putting up win after win after win.
The first to compete for the second portion of the week was the Overwatch team. In their Overwatch fashion, they brought in another 3-0 victory bringing their season total to 3-0. It's still early, but with the looks of this team, the sky is the limit. Senior Rebecca Gehm (Frankenmuth, Mich.) said, "It was an enjoyable experience that furthered the team's synergy."
The winning Wednesday didn't stop for the Falcons who saw a momentous 2-0 victory over Marymount in Rainbow 6 Siege. The team was led in eliminations by Caeden Perry (Waunakee, Wis.) with 25 and by Sean Sullivan (West Bend, Wis.) with 23. The team combined for 83 total eliminations in their 2-0 victory.
What is a week for esports without a forfeit? The Valorant team experienced a forfeit win by Dartmouth. Coach Lewis Smith isn't too happy about these kinds of wins anymore. He is ready for teams to show up and take on the powerhouse that is Falcon esports.
In their first regular-season matchup, the League of Legends squad took on Kings College in a grueling 2-0 victory. The team as a whole was firing on all cylinders putting up 51 eliminations and 110 assists. Leading the Falcon effort was Jonah Fowle (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) with 15 eliminations and 17 assists. Behind his was senior Jay Nakama (Kahului, Hawaii) with 14 eliminations and 18 assists.
The Falcons are looking forward to a huge week in their season coming up this week.
The Valorant team takes on Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Monday in a battle for the top spot in Wisconsin. In another title, the Smash team is taking on Lawrence Tech in a matchup of two of the only three undefeated teams in the league. The Smash Bros team has been blazing through the competition and looks to continue its perfect streak on Tuesday.
Probably the biggest of the week is a semifinals rematch between the Falcon Overwatch crew and Fresno State. "This is the loss that ended the Cinderella run of the Overwatch team in the Spring. This is a new and improved squad in blue, hoping to avenge last season's loss," Said Coach Smith.
