MEQUON, Wis.- The John Buuck Field House was rowdy this weekend with a home series for the Concordia men's basketball team against the Marian Sabres. The Falcons secured a 66-56 victory to earn the series split.
The game was slow to start with the first points to come from senior Garrett Hoffman (Belgium, Wis.) at the 18:37 minute mark. The Sabres wouldn't see their first point until just under the 18-minute mark.
The lead was held by the Falcons until the 17th minute when Marian's Deandre Ross came away with the defensive rebound.
The Falcons were able to secure the lead going into halftime at 30-23.
Possession was back and forth throughout the second half. With the score tied at 46 for one minute, the Falcons were able to get the lead with six minutes to remain in regulation.
The Blue and White had a few scoring opportunities to increase their lead by nine in with four minutes remaining.
Today's leader of the game for the Falcons was junior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) with a total of 20 points. Following Jurss, senior Joey Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) and junior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.) were able to secure 12 points each for the Falcons. Keller had 12 rebounds and seven defensive rebounds for tonight's matchup against the Sabres.
The Concordia men's basketball team will compete at home for another weekend series against Wisconsin Lutheran starting on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7 PM.
