MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons gave up five third-period goals on Friday night to surrender the top spot in the NCHA North Division. In a battle of two first-place teams, St. Scholastica took game one by a 6-2 margin.
Sophomore Ali Eiden (Rosemount, Minn.) gave the Falcons the lead in the second period with a goal that trickled into the net.
St. Scholastica tied the game six minute later.
Junior Sarah Pearson (South Range, Wis.) put the Falcons up 2-1 heading into the third period with a power-play goal in front of the net from passes from senior Ally Hull (Wasilla, Alaska) and junior Sarah Tretina (Plainfield, Ill.).
The Saints took the game with five third-period goals.
Sophomore Annalina Van Hercke (Castle Rock, Colo.) had 37 saves in the defeat.
Saint Scholastica outshot the Falcons on Friday, 43- 22.
CUW will look to tie the series tomorrow night in Minnesota and return to first place.
