Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball stays in first place

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The CUW women's volleyball team stayed in first place in the NACC North Division with a split at Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday. Both teams secured a 3-2 victory.

The Falcons drew first blood on Saturday with a 25-20 victory in set one against the Warriors.

The Green and White leveled the match even at one with a 25-22 victory in set two. CUW once again took the lead with a 25-16 third set victory, but Wisconsin Lutheran won the fourth set at 25-19 to tie the match. The Falcons fought off three match points, but the Warriors won the fifth set, 21-19, to secure the victory.

Freshman Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) led the flock with 13 kills. Junior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) had a double-double performance with 11 kills and 10 digs.

CUW had 73 digs in game one, with sophomore Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) having 17 and junior Annie Marie Olszowka (Bolingbrook, Ill.) at 16.

Junior Makenzie Vertz (Mukwonago, Wis.) led CUW with 23 assists and four service aces.

The Falcons did not fold after the heartbreak in match one and took victories in the second and third sets in the second match. The Warriors tied the match at two with a 25-22 victory in set four.

CUW closed the final set of the day on a 7-2 run to win 15-12.

Junior McKenna Nigl (Richland Center, Wis.) finished with a team-high 14 kills in match two.

Junior Madelyn Alton (Farwell, Minn.) dug up 23 of CUW's 78 digs in the victory.

CUW returns to play on March 21 against Edgewood.
