MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW ACHA men's hockey team recorded a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory to even the season series with No. 15 Aurora. The Falcons won 6-5 to improve to 9-10-0 on the year.
Aurora found its way onto the scoreboard first on Wednesday.
Sophomore Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) tied the game off passes from sophomore Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.) and senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.).
The Spartans reclaimed the lead with a pair of goals to start the second period.
Sophomore Connor Doyle (Naples, Fla.) scored off a pass from Trenton Sherman.
42 seconds later senior Cody Faber (Wilmot, Wis.) lit the lamp on the power play off an assist to Wyatt Wilderman.
Aurora took the lead late in the second period, but the Falcons tied the game in the last minute of the period off the stick of Easton Williams off passes from senior Andrew Doepp (New Lenox, Ill.) and Wyatt Wilderman.
The Spartans took the lead again in the third period on a breakaway goal.
Trenton Sherman later forced overtime with a goal with Connor Doyle and Easton Williams getting credited with the assists.
Wyatt Wilderman scored the winning goal in overtime to secure the victory.
Senior Dakota Delbridge (Tracy, Calif.) kept the Falcons in the game defensively with 42 saves in net.
The Falcons will look to finally break past Marian this weekend.
