MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's soccer team steamrolled Edgewood on senior day with a 7-0 victory. The Falcons improved to 5-1-1 on the year with the victory. The Eagles finish the year without a victory at 0-6-2.
The scoring started 19 seconds into the match off the boot of senior Tyler Salvador (Lindenhurst, Ill.).
Sophomore Nick Hummel (Green Bay, Wis.) found his way onto the score sheet in the 26th minute off a pass from sophomore Ivan Cuellar (Milwaukee, Wis.).
CUW struck again 29 seconds later with a goal from Ivan Cuellar, with junior Sam Runyan (Muskego, Wis.) adding the assist.
The 29th minute saw junior Bobby McNealy (Burlington, Wis.) find the back of the net. He then closed the second-half scoring with a goal in the 41st minute.
Ivan Cuellar earned his second goal of the game after being fed from Gilberto Gomez.
Sophomore Mattson Wick (New Berlin, Wis.) exited the game in the 73rd minute with a clean sheet and two saves.
Senior Jacob Hilbrandt (Hemlock, Mich.) wrapped up the scoring on Wednesday off a pass from junior Jacob Schmidt (Wautoma, Wis.).
Sophomore Andrew Chester (Rockford, Ill.) made his first appearance on Wednesday afternoon and collected a save to preserve the shut out.
Nick Hummel led the flock with four shots against the Eagles.
The seven goals are the most that the Falcons have landed on Edgewood this century. The last time that CUW scored seven goals in a match was on Sept. 7, 2019 at Northland.
CUW can claim the NACC North Division crown with a win at MSOE on Sunday afternoon.
