Falcons Shine Bright Against the Stars

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Falcons remain near the top of the very tight NACC standings with a commanding victory at Dominican. The Falcons shot down the Star with a 64-46 victory. The victory propels CUW to 8-6 on the season and 7-3 in conference play.

The Falcons came out to a blistering start on both ends of the court and led 16-2 after the first quarter. Junior Reagan Obry (Neenah, Wis.) led the flock with five points in the quarter. The Blue and White closed the quarter on a 15-0 run.

The two points against is a season-low given up in a quarter.

CUW added to the lead in the second quarter and took a 29-10 lead into halftime. Sophomore Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) took control of the game in the second quarter and scored nine-straight points for the Falcons.

The Stars cut the Concordia lead to 16 points with 5:28 left in the third quarter, but the Falcons' defense froze the Stars and used a 10-0 run to push Dominican away.

Dominican did not fade away into the darkness on Tuesday night. The Stars scored 13-straight points in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 47-36.

A layup from junior Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.) snapped the skid and the Falcons followed up with a three-point basket from freshman Abigail Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.).

Reagan Obry led the flock with 13 points and a game-high and career-high 11 rebounds for her first double-double performance of her career.

Freshman Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.) finished with 11 points and a game-high four assists.

Concordia dominated the boards on Tuesday with a 52-28 advantage in rebounds. All eight Falcons grabbed a rebound and scored in the victory. CUW scored 17 second-chance points and held Dominican to two.

The Falcons return to action on Friday afternoon in a rescheduled showdown against Concordia Chicago.
