Falcons Edge Eagles in Battle of the Birds

MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW women's volleyball team remained undefeated in conference play after a 3-2 victory over the Eagles of Benedictine.

The Falcons started off with a fire that could not be matched with a set-one score of 25-10.  Set one saw senior Jenna Chaussee (Chilton, Wis.) record five kills which led the team.  She added three digs and one assist in set one.  Of the Falcon's 25 points, the Blue and White scored 21 with 17 kills, two service aces, and two total blocks.  The Eagles scored five of their 10 in the set.

The Eagles took set two with a score of 25-22.  Sophomore Maycee Karpfinger (Wauwatosa, Wis.) went off for seven kills on nine attempts for a .778 hitting percentage in the set.  Senior Sierra Lee (Kenosha, Wis.) recorded 10 assists in the set.

The Eagles ate up the Falcons in the third set and took a 2-1 lead after a 25-19 in set three.  The Eagles edged out the Falcons from the service line with three aces to the Falcon's zero.  Senior Sophia Collins (Lake Mills, Wis.) led the Blue and White with six kills in the set.

The flock snapped out of their slump and took the next two sets with dominant scores of 25-15 and 15-6.  Karpfinger and Collins finished with a game-high 18 kills which is Collins' career-high.  Lee finished with 34 of the 72 Falcon assists with senior Erika Natzke (Morton Grove, Ill.) recording 29.  The Blue and White scored 84 total points with the Eagles scoring just 54.  Chaussee finished with a double-double with 10 kills and 23 digs.

The flock flys out to Marian on Saturday to take on the Sabres and look to protect their perfect conference season.
