WAUKESHA, Wis. – The CUW women's tennis team opened the season against a tough tandem of North Central and Carroll. The Falcons fell in both matches to open the year at 0-2.
The Falcons opened the day with a 0-9 loss to North Central.
Junior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) put up the biggest fight against the Cardinals with a 7-5, 6-4 loss at No. 4 singles.
The birds put up a fight against Carroll but fell short, 4-5.
The done doubles point came from senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and junior Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) at No. 1 doubles with an 8-3 victory.
Ricki Budewitz rang Ashley LaBelle at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
Ashley Samuta sank Grace Krueger at No. 2 singles, 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.
Mallory Moen rallied back at No. 4 singles to defeat Maya Gaedke at 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.
The Falcons look to shake off Saturday's performance and exact revenge on Saturday when they fly south to Illinois Tech in a rematch of the 2022 NACC Tournament Semifinals.
