MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW ACHA team opened the 2023 portion of their schedule with a late-night matchup against the Raiders of MSOE.
The Falcons exhibited their dominance once again with an 8-3 victory.
The Blue and White netted two goals in the opening period with goals from seniors Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) and Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.).
Gregor was assisted by junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.) and sophomore Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.).
Kreuser was assisted by seniors Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.) and Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.).
Way netted the opening goal of the second period off a pass from Kreuser as well as senior Lucas Hefty (Oregon, Wis.). Gregor followed that up 20 seconds later with a goal assisted by Malcolmson.
The Raiders scored their first goal of the matchup in the ninth minute of the second period.
Senior Jacob Palmerio (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) recorded his first points of the night on a goal which was assisted by sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) and Malcolmson.
The Raiders closed the period with their second goal.
Three straight Falcon goals fell to open the final frame. Senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) netted the first one off an assist from Way. Junior John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) netted his first goal of the night after a pass from Gregor as well as Garrett Wilderman. Malcolmson Netted the final Falcon goal with assists from Way and Weiss.
The Raiders netted the final goal of the matchup but still fell by a score of 8-3.
The Blue and White finish up the series inside the Ozaukee Ice Center Saturday night.
