Falcons Victorious in Tight Matchup

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's volleyball team claimed another conference victory with a four-set win over the MSOE Raiders inside the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse on Friday night.

The Raiders claimed a 26-24 victory in set one, but the Falcons answered with 25-23, 25-19, and 29-27 sets to claim the match.

The first set saw junior Spencer Herman (Kimberly, Wis.) record a set-high six kills. The Falcons fell in extra points with a kill from MSOE.

The second set was neck and neck heading down the stretch with the team's ties at 22. The Falcons went on a 3-1 run to close out the frame and ended it on a pair of kills with one each from freshman Ben Kayser (Milwaukee, Wis.) and senior Andy Ellingham (Burlington, Wis.).

The Falcons broke open the third set at 17-15 with a three-point run to take the 20-15 lead. They finished on a 5-4 run to claim set three.

Herman put the dagger in the third set to head into what would be the final frame.

The fourth set was the second of the match to see extra points with a 29-27 final score in favor of the birds. Freshman Parker Pearson (Keller, Texas) recorded a kill late in the set to tie the set at 25 and negate the MSOE set point. A kill from Herman and a mistimed Raider error pushed the Blue and White out in front by a 29-27 set score and a 3-1 match score.

Herman tied his season high of 20 kills. He added two block assists and a hitting percentage of .429 for a total of 21.0 points.

Sophomore Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) assisted on 41 of the 54 Falcon kills. He also added six digs.

Pearson led the Blue and White with 11 digs.

The Falcons head to New York next weekend for a pair of matches out East.
