MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team wrapped up the home portion of the regular season on Saturday against the Spartans of Aurora. The Falcons had their six-game winning streak snapped and moved to 7-7 on the year and to 4-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Junior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) tied the game at one off a pass from sophomore Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) with a goal just over two minutes into the contest.
Fuchs then tied the game at two with a goal at the 11:36 mark of the first quarter.
Freshman Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) joined the scoring party at the 8:32 mark of the first quarter.
The Falcons closed the first quarter with goals 30 seconds apart from Eliana Fuchs and Katelyn Cardinale to tie the game at five with assists from sophomore Ava Karlov (Naperville, Ill.) and junior Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.).
The Blue and White closed the second-quarter scoring with goals from Katelyn Cardinale and Natalie Mackrell.
Sophomore Sydney Dyba (Crown Point, Ind.) snagged 11 saves and six ground balls on Saturday. She also caused two turnovers.
Before the game, the Falcons honored the senior class of 2023 in Hanna Podbielski (Richfield, Wis.), Grace Wilshire (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Bela Noyle (Baltimore, Md.) and Olivia Niego.
With today's results, the Falcons are locked into the No. 2 seed in the NACC Tournament and will host a semifinal contest on May 3. CUW could clinch a share of the title if the Falcons defeat IIT and Concordia Chicago defeats Aurora.
The Falcons close the regular season against Illinois Tech on Saturday.
