RICHMOND, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team opened the 2023 campaign on Saturday at Earlham. The Quakers collected a 2-1 victory to hand the Falcons their first loss of the season.
Earlham started the scoring with a goal in the 23rd minute.
The Falcons responded in the 41st minute when freshman Caitlyn Wenzel (Fallston, Md.) scored her first collegiate goal when she tapped in a rebound off a shot from sophomore Katelyn Cardinale (Mt. Laurel, N.J.).
The Maroon and White found the game-winning goal in the 49th minute.
Senior Halli Schneiderwendt (Appleton, Wis.) collected three saves in her collegiate debut.
CUW held a 12-6 advantage in shots on Saturday and a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The birds look to bounce back on Sunday against Oberlin.
