MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons fell short on Saturday night in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) matchup against Dubuque.
The Spartans picked up a 3-0 victory to take the first round of the weekend.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period.
The Falcons held an 18-8 advantage in shots in the second period but the Spartans scored off a rebound.
Dubuque scored two empty-net goals to secure the victory.
Sophomore Gabe Rosek (East Lansing, Mich.) stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced.
The Birds held a 44-31 advantage in shots.
Sophomore Dain Sardelli (Hebron, N.D.) led the flock with eight shots.
The two teams wrap up the weekend on Sunday morning.
