MADISON, Wis. – After a nearly two-hour delay, the Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team finally took to the pitch Saturday night to face the high-scoring Edgewood College Eagles in a Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup.
Despite their determination, the Falcons fell to the Eagles in a 0-5 loss, bringing their record to 2-7-2 overall and 2-5-0 in the conference.
Freshman Logan Walker (Hartland, Wis.) sparked the action with the match's first shot, but the Edgewood goalkeeper was quick to make the save.
In the 19th minute, the Eagles broke the deadlock, taking a 1-0 lead.
But just two minutes later, junior goalkeeper Enrique Torres (Eau Claire, Wis.) recorded his first save of the night.
The Eagles, who lead the NACC in scoring, maintained their relentless attack, netting goals in the 23rd, 30th, and 33rd minutes to establish a commanding 4-0 lead by halftime.
After the break, the Falcons managed to hold the Eagles scoreless for the first 25 minutes, but Edgewood found the net again in the 70th minute to secure a 5-0 advantage.
Enrique Torres finished the match with eight saves, while junior Carson Kelly (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and Elias Ramon (Huntley, Ill.) contributed shots, with Walker recording the lone shot on target for the Falcons.
Concordia will take the field at Marian on Wednesday.
