MEQUON, Wis. – It was a spectacular day for the Concordia Wisconsin women's cross country team. The Falcons won the Wisconsin Private College Championships against 11 teams with 31 points, finishing ahead of Carthage with 58 and St. Norbert with 63 points. The Falcons defended their title after winning in Beloit in 2023.
Junior Ainara Sainz De Rozas (Madrid, Spain) not only claimed the individual title, but she shattered the course record with a winning time of 22:20.6. Clara Mayfield of Carleton held the record since 2019 at 22:38.6.
Junior Melanie Arvis (Berwyn, Ill.) secured second place with a time of 22:47.7.
Senior Alicia Kawa (Medford, Wis.) finished the 1-2-3 finish for the Birds at 22:57.2.
In 11th place was sophomore Mikayla Becker (Plantation, Fla.) at 24:20.8.
Junior Danielle Van Grinsven (Appleton, Wis.) clocked in at 24:35.0 in 15th place.
In 16th place was sophomore Emma Ahrens (Stephens City, Va.) at 24:41.1.
Sophomore Abigail Lange (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) finished the race at 24:53.2 in 19th place.
Sophomore Kylee Camble (Cudahy, Wis.) collected a time of 26:03.0 in 32nd place.
Junior Elizabeth Van Rixel (Athena, Wis.) ran a time of 26:16.0 in 34th place.
Freshman Annabelle Gonnering (West Bend, Wis.) concluded the race in 46th place at 26:41.7.
Sophomore Hailey Foster (Pewaukee, Wis.) finished in 56th place with a time of 27:31.5.
Senior Ella Brill (Oostburg, Wis.) brought in a 62nd-place finish at 27:50.6.
Sophomore Sydney Leschisin (Turtle Lake, Wis.) lunged across the finish line at 28:10.9 in 65th place.
Freshman Riley Hoerig (West Bend, Wis.) rounded out the flock in 70th place at 28:35.4.
The Falcons will now look to focus their attention on the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships on November 2. The Falcons are the reigning champions after the Falcons' five-fastest runners ran faster times than the other "co-champions" Spartans of Aurora and Green Knights of St. Norbert.
