DUBUQUE, Iowa — On Wednesday evening, the Falcons faced a major challenge for the first road trip of the season at No. 13 Loras. The Duhawks defended the Rock Bowl with a 2-0 victory to improve to 2-0-0 on the season. The loss sends CUW to 1-1-0 on the young season.
The Duhawks started the scoring with a shot from 13 yards out in the 13th minute.
Loras struck again in the 33rd minute on a header on a corner.
Senior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) collected four saves in the first half.
The Falcons cracked the Duhawks' defense in the 60th minute when senior Sheridan Dorge (Winnipeg, Manitoba) recorded the first shot of the match for the Falcons.
Three minutes later, Dorge had a free kick that was blocked.
Senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) showed her speed and blasted the first shot on net of the game.
Loras finished the day with a 22-3 advantage in shots on Wednesday.
Brooke Braga finished the evening with 10 saves.
The Falcons cut the Duhawks' goal average in half after Aurora allowed four goals in the season opener.
Last year, Loras went unbeaten at home with an 11-0-1 record. The senior class is 34-0-3 at home with the three ties against Concordia Wisconsin, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Coe.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday on the shores of Lake Michigan against the Foresters of Lake Forest. Last year, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
