DE PERE, Wis. – Wednesday night saw a battle of two of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Green Knights of St. Norbert entered the evening in first place in the NACC at 4-0 and the Falcons flew north in second place at 4-1. The Green Knights kept their unbeaten record alive with the 56-38 victory.
The Green Knights jumped out to an early 10-0 lead after the first five minutes on Wednesday night.
Sophomore Gracie McNabb (Grafton, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard with a three-point basket off a pass from senior Aubrey DeBauch (Gillett, Wis.).
McNabb pulled the Falcons within three points after draining three three-point baskets at 9-12.
The Green and Gold closed the first quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 17-9 lead into the break.
Aubrey DeBauch started the scoring for Concordia in the second quarter with three points the old-fashioned way with 5:51 left in the quarter.
The Falcons connected on back-to-back layups from senior Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and junior Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) to clip the SNC lead to 21-16.
St. Norbert used a 7-0 run to elevate the lead, the streak was snapped by a layup from Aubrey DeBauch.
Ava Booth beat the buzzer and scored a three-point basket from the "S" at the middle of the court to cut the SNC lead to 30-21 at halftime.
Aubrey DeBauch had all six of the points for the Falcons in the third quarter.
The Green and Gold held a 12-6 advantage in the third quarter to hold a 42-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Birds opened the fourth-quarter scoring with a layup from Aubrey DeBauch off an assist from sophomore Andrea Butterbrodt (Green Bay, Wis.).
St. Nobert was able to preserve its lead for the remainder of the contest.
Aubrey DeBauch led the flock with 13 points and two blocks on Wednesday.
Andrea Butterbrodt had 10 rebounds against the Green Knights.
The Falcons look to bounce back on Saturday at Dominican.
